6 months and on to 7

Justin is learning to sit up all on his own now! He's still a little shaky, but it's the only way he wants to be. No more reclining on his back and taking in the scenery, now he wants to reach out and grab the scenery so he can shove it in his mouth, drool all over it and toss it to the side. I guess this is just the beginning of the active little baby phase. :)
O.K., so that is the blog I started working on a couple of weeks ago and never got around to finishing. No more shaky sitting, Justin is strong now!! He is even starting to wiggle his little booty on the ground like he wants to scoot off somewhere. Watch out Mommy! Things won't be so easy very soon.
We also had his six month check up a few weeks ago. This time I made sure that Collin would be able to be there since I wanted an extra set of ears to hear all the answers to the questions I had. But, the biggest reason I wanted Collin there was to hold down our sweet little baby while he was stabbed in the legs with his immunizations. I wanted Collin to witness that angelic, laughing baby turn into a whaling, kicking monster. I wanted it to be Collin's eyes he would look into with hurt and betrayal instead of mine. It's only fair, right? Sometimes Daddy needs to be the bad guy, not just me... and let's face it, I can't bear to see my Little Monkey so upset.
Well, the best part of these appointments are the stats...
20lbs 1oz which is 75th percentile
28in which is 93rd percentile
Keep in mind that he started at 7lb 9oz and 19in long. That is a LOT of growing for one little baby. Alright, not that little, but it's still a lot.
The best part of our appointment was when I asked the doctor if I should be concerned that Justin is not really rolling over anymore and still hates to be on his tummy. She just smiled at us and said, "Sometimes bigger babies just don't." So, I guess I can relax about the developmental delay that I was just sure he had.
I'm sure it is still very apparent from my writing that I am still learning to trust my instincts about parenting. I'm also still looking for that perfect baby book with all the answers. But, this has been the most wonderful time with Justin. He is excited to find and discover new things and I love being the one who shows them to him. So far we know that he seems to really like animals and be indifferent with swinging. I can't wait for many more firsts. :)
